Embroidery detail of pocket front

Here we might put a picture of the kids.

Ladies 18 Century paid of pockets with embroidery. These will be attached
at the waist with cotton lacing when worn.

This is the detail emboirdery of the pleasted ruffle for the petticoat for the 18
century woman's dress. The front of the petticoat shows when worn. This project is underway presently and
will have new photos posted as progress is made. We are waiting now for some pink ribbon to arrive so it can be completed.

In the 18 century, a corset was called a stay and was worn under the dress gowns.
In reconstucting historical clothing, the first step is the recreate the correct undergarments. 21st century underware
will not work. Once you begin creating the outer gowns and jackets you can fit them better if you have the correct underware
to get a proper fit as you are sewing. The basic stay is boned and self binding is hand stitched. The final stay
will have eyelet lacing in the back for a personalized fit. The stay is worn over a linen or cotton gown so never
touches the skin directly.
